Connecting an A/V Receiver

Looking at the back of any A/V receiver can be very intimidating. Look at the back of the Yamaha RX-V2083, there are plenty of connections for a lot of components to can be connected.

If you have a closer look and break it down in to sections of what you actually see, you will notice that it is a well laid out plan and easy to work with.

See the speaker terminals, they are well laid out and labeled so it is easy to understand which speaker is connected to the corresponding terminals on the back of the receiver. This A/V receiver has the ability to connect a number of speaker configurations including bi-amping you front speakers.

You could also use this to connect a pair of speakers in a second or third zone. On this receiver and many others, you could use banana plug or bare wire to connect the speaker wire.

You have the possibility to connect a multi channel amplifier by using the pre-out connections.

You will see that there are plenty of input connections and they are labeled clearly.

See that there are plenty of HDMI inputs and outputs. They are labeled to indicate the input you need to select.

Some A/V receivers have a network connections. This connections gives you the possibility for steaming to the receiver or even to be controlled by an app. This receiver even has bluetooth, so you are able to stream from a bluetooth device AND stream audio to a bluetooth speaker.

The RX-A2083 is packed full of features. Not all A/V receivers have all of these connections and features. So, when you look at the back of any A/V receiver, it may or may not have the same connections. Take your time and see what connections it has, you will see that it would be well laid out and labeled accordingly.
