I have a list of tracks that I use to test the quality of sound from the system. Each song has certain things I listen for anything from the bass to the detail.
Things I listen out for are things like;
Does the voice sound real.
Listen to the voice of the singer, do they sound natural. The voice should be clear and sound real. If you have heard their voice many times, you should know what they sound like.
Do the instruments sound real.
When listening, all the instruments should sound like they should, drums, guitar trumpets, etc. The all should sound nice and clear.
Does the music sound in time.
Unless the song is recorded in such a way, but the music should be in time. It should be clear and you be able to tap your feet along, all the instruments should be playing in time, not lagging.
Can you hear the detail.
Can you hear the detail like the fretting of the guitar, can you hear the breathes in between the lyrics, can you hear the hammer hitting the strings of the piano. If these sound are in the recording, you should be able to hear all these details.
Then comes the overall sound stage.
If the speakers are positioned correctly, the speakers work together to create a sound stage. The voice should be central, they sound as if they are right in the middle of the two speakers. The instruments sound as if they are around the stage, from far left and all they way to the far right.
There are a quite few tracks on my playlist, I suggest that you create your own playlist from your favourite artists. Maybe up to five tracks.
